A coil pickling line, unique in Europe
|
The pickling line is a ‘push-pull’ line (from coil to coil) to process 2-metre wide 40-tonne coils in thicknesses from 2 mm to 16 mm and tensile strengths from 1000 N/mm2. The chemical cycle (the pickling) is based on hydrochloric acid (HCL). The material first goes through a spray section and then through two baths with a turbulence system. Then, the material is rinsed with warm water and dried with warm air. Following this, a static oiling machine can be used to coat it with the desired oil and layer thickness, after which the coils are again tightly wound.
This line, with a capacity of 240,000 tonnes per annum, is unique in Europe as regards thickness, widths and tensile strengths.
